Privacy policy

This policy explains what Belong collects, why, and how it's protected. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate. If anything is unclear, write to us at privacy@belong.app.
What we collect
An account email and password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase), an anonymous display name you choose, and the content you create: journal entries, posts, comments, and your reading and listening activity. Belong is free to use right now, so we don't collect any billing or payment information.
Your journal is not readable by us
Journal entries are stored with access rules that restrict reading to your account alone. This isn't a setting you can turn off, and it isn't a promise we can waive for support requests, moderation, or legal inquiries we haven't been compelled to answer by law. Your journal is yours.
Community content
Posts and comments you share publicly are reviewed by moderators before they appear to others, and are associated with your anonymous display name, not your real identity, email, or account details. We keep a private link between your account and your content so we can enforce our community guidelines.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run Belong: Supabase for our database, authentication, and storage; and Netlify for hosting. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your account information from your account settings, or by writing to us. Deleting your account removes your profile, journal, and community content, except where we're required to retain records for billing or legal purposes.
Cookies
We use a minimal set of cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences like dark mode. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll let you know by email before the change takes effect.
